The question of what type of web site you need depends on a few key factors. What do you want to deliver to your audience? Are you going to use the site as a store? Is it a company identity web site? Does the site have a technical purpose (uploading images to a photo store for instance)?
Once you decide on the purpose of your site you need to ask your-self how often you are going to update the site, a question that will determine the technology and cost of the development.

There is no scientific answer for this question because there are many variables that assemble the final cost.
An easy way to know how to budget a site will be to look at it as building bricks where each brick is a component or page, and each brick has its own price and quality. The more bricks you have, the larger and more expensive the project will become.
The other aspect that can make your site more expensive is if it's based on a back office platform or plain html pages.

Not necessarily.
Deferent search engines use deferent methods to find a search query. In general a search engine will look for specific keywords that can be inserted in the page code, known as Meta Tags, in the title, the content and links. The content in each page will also determain and help search engines to rank the page in a higher position
In order to be listed on the top of a search list, you may want to use a professional web site promoter. Another way to “push” the site to the top is to use a good and capable back-office solution like ours that has a unique search engine booster module.

Pixels are the small dots that illuminate your computer screen or build the image printed from a digital camera. A resolution of a screen is the amount of pixels in the width and height of the screen. Most users use the resolution of either 800x600, or 1024x768 pixels.
A higher resolution will result a smaller and tighter image on the screen. This will also provide more space on the desktop.
Because there are many people in the world that are using a resolution of 800x600 pixels, many web site designers build web pages that do not exceed 800 pixels to ensure that users wont have to scroll horizontally.

Flash is a vector based image or animation sequence. This type of file was invented in order to transfer animation clips in a fast and smooth way.
Because a vector drawing is build by a connection of lines, the computer calculation is shorter and therefore faster because it only needs to find the coordinates connecting the lines and then draw them.
In the contrary, Bitmap images are a bunch of many dots that create the final images. The computer therefore needs to build the image dot by dot until completion. In other words, more dots, the larger the file will become.

Yes.
The hosting company determines the speed that your web site pages will load and respond with your audience. A web site responding time is as important as the design and content. Also a good and reliable hosting company will backup your files at least twice a day and will have additional components like, statistics, mailbox administration etc’.
Do not look for a cheap deal. If your web site is precious to you, host it in a good, stable and reliable company.

Write your content in Word or any other text editor. Create a separate text file for each web page or category. This way it will be easier to find and modify your text as your site will become bigger.
Images should be saved as JPEG, GIF or PNG formats. Use image software to reduce the size of your images. In most cases you wont need those high resolution digital image files your camera as taken as they will just be too big in size an eventually will clutter your hosting space.
Movie files should be saved in MPEG, WMV or QuickTime formats. You can reduce the size of your clips to at least 320x240.

FTP stands for “File Transfer Protocol” and in common language it means connecting to a remote computer in order to transfer files, almost the same as connecting to other computers at your home or organization.
Your web site files reside on a remote computer (server). When you want to modify, change, add or delete files, you have to first, connect to the remote server and then upload or download what ever file you need to work on.
You can FTP by using your web browser or specific software. Usually you will only need a server address, a user name and a password.
